Siemens Open Tennis Final
A disappointing crowd, (Probably due to great beach weather and people planning World Cup Final parties etc)and beautiful weather welcomed the players on to the centre court for the climax to this weeks Siemens Open tennis tournament.

Both players, Denis Gremelmayr (GER) and Thomas Schoorel (NED) are tall and the predictions were for a chess like encounter as both players can cover the whole court easily.
The first set went to Gremelmayr 7-5 after breaking serve at 5-5. The second set produced some superb base line rallies as both players suffered in the heat. Gremelmayr broke early in the set and went 5-2 up. Schoorel fought back and as the set went on the pressure grew. A lot of first serves were being missed. At one stage it looked as though Schoorel was going to get back in to it. After a tense few games of power tennis Gremelmayr finished of his opponent to win the second set and match 7-5, 6-4.

The game was played in a very sporting manner and the crowd rose to their feet to congratulate the winner and commiserate with the runner up.
Gremelmayr collected his trophy and a cheque for €6,150. He was most gracious with the win and praised his opponent highly. Schoorel then collected his silver salver and a cheque for €3,600.
After the presentations, Thomas Schoorel was award with another salver as recognition for his work with younger Dutch tennis players and his dedication to discover potential new talent.
Next year, same time, same place the Siemens Open will return. TheHagueOnLine will again have a meet up one night. So put it in your diaries and come along to watch some great tennis.
